Adirondack Public Observatory - (518) 359-3538

This is our page to highlight the construction of our Roll Off Roof observatory. It has now morphed into our activity and highlights page.

Construction was started in the spring of 2012. Trees were cleared and the site cleaned and made ready for excavation by Benze Logging of Tupper Lake. By late July/early August the excavation was started by Lemieux construction of Tupper Lake. In August the foundation was poured and concrete piers set. Flat work was performed by Mike Gaff and Clint Hollingsworth both of Tupper Lake. In September Scott Hortsman from Backyard Observatories arrived from Ohio to construct the observatory building. Electrical work was performed and donated by Marc Staves of Tupper Lake. The plumbing work was performed and donated by Ken Stohl of Stohl Mechanical Services of Tupper Lake. Site Planning and Engineering work was accomplished by Kurt Bedore PE of KB Engineering Burnthills NY, Kurt's home town is Tupper Lake. The entire project thus far has been accomplished entirely with numerous and generous private donations. As you can see by the list of contractors participating, this project has truly been a Tupper Lake project with minimal use of outside contractors.

We'll continue with our every clear Friday night schedule through October. Starting at 7Pm.
