The AMA Pro Racing Flat Track Finals are returning to Southern California once again Saturday October 11, 2014. For many years the AMA Pro Grand National Championship finished off their season in California and the challenging half mile is again a welcome addition to the 2014 AMA Pro Racing schedule.
The night will crown the two Champions of the AMA Pro Racing Flat Track Series. Both the Harley-Davidson Insurance Grand National Champion and the Motorcycle SuperStore.com Pro Singles Championship will be decided.
From 1991 to 1996 the deep cushion of the FairPlex half mile was a staple on the Grand National Series, running Spring and Fall races in 1992 through 1995. The demanding track briefly returned to the schedule for one race in 2009.
Among the current crop of riders only Henry Wiles (2009) has posted a win at Pomona. Historically the track has favored the hard charging cushion masters and Hall of Fame rider Scott Parker posted the most wins by far, six while no one else has repeated.
The addition of the Pomona Flat Track Finals to the 2012 AMA Pro Racing Grand National Championship caps a great western state three race swing to finish up the year with the Santa Rosa Mile September 30, Tucson Half-Mile October 6 and then Pomona on the 13th.
