ASHLEY’S QUEST MISSION STATEMENT
________________________________________
The main objective of Ashley’s Quest, LLC. is to develop and enhance the daily living skills of disabled adults with hands on activities in a real life setting. Ashley’s Quest serves young ladies ages 21-40 in a fully functional apartment. The staff to client ratio is two staff members to four clients to better serve our clients needs.
Academics will be integrated with all the daily living activities we provide. We will continue to challenge our clients with Reading Comprehension and Math Skills.
The client will work on meal planning. This will include gathering recipes, making shopping lists and budgeting money. The clients will do the actual shopping, cook the planned meals, and serve themselves along with the other clients. Following the meal there will be a kitchen clean-up.
They will also keep track of household items (such as toilet paper, paper towels, dish detergent and cleaning supplies) in order to plan for replenishment.
The clients will develop their household skills, including cleaning the kitchen, the bathroom, the family room, making beds, laundry, ironing, dusting, vacuuming, and mopping floors.
The clients will keep a calendar with birthdays, anniversaries, doctor’s appointments and social engagements.
We will develop fiscal responsibility by learning to write checks, balance check books and savings accounts. We will use the “Dollar Up” method for teaching money and learn to use a Cash Register.
The clients will work on office skills such as filing, shredding, computer/internet skills, photocopying, faxing, and taking phone messages.
The clients will work on arts and crafts: making gifts for family, for friends, for the disadvantaged, elderly, and the sick.
We will be involved in community work by distributing holiday gifts to the needy and infirmed, and by volunteering their time.
The clients will learn basic first aid and how to appropriately respond to mishaps in the home.
We will provide a variety of exercise options, including a treadmill, stationary bike, total gym, elliptical machine, Nintendo’s Wii, air hockey, darts, and indoor basketball game.
Transportation is not offered to and from the program. Clients use own transportation, TRADE or Access Link.
