It is with great honor that I announce my candidacy as a Democrat for the District C seat of the Wilkes-Barre City Council.

It is with great honor that I announce my candidacy as a Democrat for the District C seat of the Wilkes-Barre City Council. My goal, as a member of the Wilkes-Barre City Council, is to restore the faith that residents have lost in our city that is thriving with potential.
I am looking for a fresh start for Wilkes-Barre. As a twenty-year old, lifelong resident and a current student of Wilkes University, I see it as my goal to ensure that our city is a safe, culturally flourishing, and economically prospering city in which each of us is proud to call home. My age is what sets me apart in this campaign. I am young, and therefore I am not hampered by previous political issues that have faced our community. I have an open-mind and open ears for each resident of Wilkes-Barre, and I welcome any new idea. I am choosing to run now, still in college, as opposed to after I graduate, simply because now is the time that Wilkes-Barre needs my help. Combatting crime and restoring Wilkes-Barre to a booming community cannot be done without listening to what residents want and without leading by example.
The goals that I have set out for our city cannot be accomplished without residents of Wilkes-Barre possessing confidence in their elected leaders. As Councilwoman, I will be accessible and understanding. I want residents to feel comfortable approaching me for any issues they may have. I will also work hard to safeguard our neighborhoods first. This must be accomplished by reaching out to other cities that have conquered the same hurdles Wilkes-Barre is now fighting. As a Political Science and International Studies major at Wilkes University, I have learned of many beneficial elements of the government that will help in making this dream a viable reality. As a Policy Studies minor, my education has shown me exactly how to implement the idea of a safer Wilkes- Barre.
I look forward to serving my city of birth, the city I grew up in and the city in which I now attend college. Wilkes-Barre has always been a part of me and now I hope the city of Wilkes-Barre will allow me to be a part of one of its most essential functions, the voice of the people.
