Big Sandy Health Care, Inc. and its clinics are a Health Center Program grantee under 42 U.S.C. 254b, and a deemed Public Health Service employee under 42 U.S.C. 233(g)-(n).
For the past three decades, residents of southeastern Kentucky have had a variety of options when it comes to primary health, dental, behavioral and OB/GYN care. Since 1974, local, state and national leaders, including such well-known individuals as Robert F. Kennedy and the Reverend Jesse Jackson, have praised the compassionate providers and dedicated staff of BSHC for providing outstanding services.
Thanks to Big Sandy Health Care (BSHC) and its clinics in Floyd, Magoffin, Martin, and Pike counties, residents can receive diagnosis, treatment and referral for any healthcare issue. In addition to physician-directed care, four of the BSHC clinics have on-site laboratory, and three have pharmacy and x-ray services.
BSHC has earned national recognition for excellent outcomes in treating diabetes and cardiovascular disease. In addition, the Bureau of Primary Health Care has recognized BSHC for demonstrating technology through its use of the Patient Electronic Care System (PECS) for creating and maintaining an electronic medical records system.
Annual surveys indicate that 96.5% of BSHC patients would recommend BSHC healthcare as an option to others in the community.
