Big Walker Lookout is the scenic overlook of the Big Walker Mountain National Forest Scenic Byway that runs on US-52 between exit 47 and exit 52 of I-77 between Wytheville and Bland, VA.

Big Walker Lookout is a scenic attraction in western Virginia and a Crooked Road Heritage Music Trail Venue. At an elevation of 3,405 feet, Big Walker Lookout affords one of the most spectacular views of the Appalachian Mountains. Looking out over the patterned farms of Virginia in one direction and the untouched wilderness in another, you'll find it hard to believe that the views are real. As if the mountains' natural height weren't enough, Big Walker Lookout features an observation tower that puts you another 100 feet higher. Climb above the treetops to enjoy a view beyond belief. On a clear day, you'll even be able to see five states, and Only The Birds See More!
Admission to the Lookout Tower is open daily, weather permitting, from 10am to 5pm at and admission price of $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for children 12 and under.
Big Walker Lookout is also the location of the BW Country Store, a Round the Mountain Craft Venue, featuring the art work & handmade crafts of over 25 Appalachian artisans from Wythe & Bland Counties, and surrounding areas. Various mediums are offered here, such as, quilts, jewelry, and gifts. Handmade scented candles, soaps, lotions, and homeopathic remedies. Bird houses, hand painted glass and Amish wood accents are all on display. Hand made cards, crocheted clothing, as well as home accents, just to name a few.
In addition to the extensive variety of handcrafted goods that are available at the County Store, our artists demonstrate their skills on the front porch Saturdays from May through October. On Sunday we are a Crooked Road Music Venue and offer music on the front porch from local singers, musicians, and bands. All Free of charge! Bring your own chair or enjoy the shade under one of our umbrellas in our large picnic area.
While shopping with us, explore our fine selection of local made jams, jellies, relishes and pickles. Local honey, local apple juice, coffees, and other specialty items- just too many to mention! While here, visit our Sweet Shop which features hand dipped Virginia ice cream, old fashion fudge and the finest assortment of chocolates in the area. Including a nice selection of sugar free chocolates. BW Country store has something for everyone and is a great stop on your get away agenda!
Please note that GPS will not bring you to the top of the mountain if you use our address. We are located at the top of Big Walker Mountain, and GPS will only bring you about half way up the mountain. We are 12 miles North of Wytheville and about 9 miles South of Bland on US-52.
