Secluded, rustic, off-grid log cabin with panoramic mountain views, at the end of a footpath, a simple yet comfortable escape.
A remote little rustic log cabin in the Mahoosucs (height of Maine mountains) on 70 acres. This is a true retreat. Drive north to our tiny town at the end of state highway 5; then head further north into the mountains, off the pavement and into Sawyer Notch; another mile along the babbling brook, then take Skyline Dr. up onto our ridge. Park and walk (or ATV) another quarter mile along the ridge top trail with amazing mountain views the entire distance, here, to your little piece of heaven. No electricity... quiet, private, peaceful. A sanctuary, complete with wildlife such as moose, deer, falcon, hawk, eagle, partridge, snowshoe hare, hummingbird, weasel, mink, otter. Hiking, canoeing, fishing, hunting, ATVing, snowmobiling, all at your doorstep. Admire the brilliant fall foliage from your porch. Swim in the gorge at Devil's Den. A short hike and you can pick oodles of blueberries on Whitecap while admiring the 360 degree view. Snowmobile to the deer yard at Middle Dam. Kayak the challenging Androscoggin River; canoe Richardson Lakes where you can swim at remote Black Point's sandy beach. Snowshoe on Elephant Mountain and look for moose sheds. Pets are welcome to roam here, with no distractions from any neighbors. You are in the wild, so the camp is non-electric; Oil lamps, gas fridge and grill, kitchen sink with water, camp cook stove; cute little clean bath house with sink, shower and toilet. (In winter, water is hauled in by sled). It has four bunk beds and a full size pull out sofa, table with four+ chairs. Wood stove for heat. What's a cabin without a porch for settin' a spell, with your favorite beverage, under the tall pines? And an outdoor fire place for the s'mores? The cabin cost is only $100 per night with a two night minimum; $600 per week. Ask about special package that includes the use of two kayaks.
