The Capitol features a large, ornate auditorium with seating on the main floor, two balconies and box seats on the side walls and an equally decorative lobby. The theatre, restored in 1987, now serves as the Capitol Civic Centre, an 1134-seat community performing arts center home to the annual Marquee Series and several resident companies including The Lakeshore Wind Ensemble, Manitowoc Symphony Orchestra, The Masquers, Clipper City Chordsmen, Jean Wolfmeyer School of Dance, Peter Quince Performing Company, Kaleidoscope Dance Studio, Kids from Wisconsin, and the Calvary Players.
This classic 1921 performance and movie venue was saved and restored by the community in 1987, reopening as a nonprofit performing arts center. Additional renovations and improvements were completed during the summer of 2013, as part of a $1.2 million building campaign.
The Capitol is home to fourteen locally-based performing arts organizations and produces a premium MARQUEE SERIES of notable world-class performers and shows.
