Central Montana Head Start

What is Head Start?
Head Start is a high quality comprehensive, preschool program for children ages 3 through 5 years old,
with educational opportunities to help them prepare for kindergarten.

Head Start offers services and/or information in the areas of education, health,
mental health, nutrition, disabilities, parent involvement, and family support.

Head Start recognizes that as parents, you are the first and most important teacher of your child.
We welcome your involvement in Head Start activities and we will work
as partners with you to help your child progress.

Who is Eligible?
Children during the two years prior to starting kindergarten ("three" to "almost five" years old).
Families who meet certain income-eligibility guidelines or families who receive SSI or TANF,
and Children with disabilities. Head Start can enroll a limited number of families
that exceed our income guidelines, so please apply to see if your family is eligible.

What Area does Central Montana Head Start Serve?
Central Montana Head Start serves Fergus, Golden Valley, Judith Basin, Musselshell, and Wheatland Counties.
There is a center in Lewistown and in Roundup and a classroom in the Harlowton High School and a classroom in
the Stanford Public School. Lewistown, Roundup, and Harlowton are Center Based programs where children attend
a classroom 3 1/2 hours a day, four days a week. Stanford is a combination program where children
attend a classroom 3 1/2 hours a day, two days a week, and receive two home visits a month
with a Head Start staff member. All classes run September through May.
