The Challenger Learning Center of Tallahassee is a 32,000 square-foot facility located on beautiful Kleman Plaza in downtown Tallahassee. The Center is the K-12 outreach facility of the Florida A&M University - Florida State University College of Engineering and uses aerospace as a theme to foster long-term interest in math, science, engineering and technology; create positive learning experiences; and motivate students to pursue higher education and careers in these fields. To accomplish this mission, the Challenger Learning Center features a state-of-the-art Space Mission Simulator and utilizes the immersiveness of an IMAX® 3D Theatre and the Downtown Digital Dome Theatre & Planetarium. The Challenger Learning Center of Tallahassee is part of the Challenger Center for Space Science Education international network.
The Challenger Learning Center of Tallahassee (CLC) is a 32,000 square foot facility located in the heart of downtown Tallahassee on beautiful Kleman Plaza. The CLC is open to the public 363 days a year and serves approximately 100,000 people, 40,000 students annually through its various programs and activities. The CLC mission includes the provision to K-12 students throughout a 67 county, tri-state service area to provide standards-aligned, high-quality “hands-on” educational experiences through the use of a space mission simulator, demonstrational and hands-on laboratory science activities, an IMAX® Theatre and a planetarium. Through the IMAX Theatre and Planetarium venues, the CLC is also able to provide the general public with stunningly unique, hugely entertaining and culturally relevant audio-visual experiences through the acquisition and exhibition of the best films and programs available.
