The Shelbyville Wastewater Treatment Plant is designed to handle 8.0 MGD design flow with a peak capacity of 16.0 MGD. The flow enters the plant from two main pump stations. The Conrey Street Pump Station was expanded to pump 12.0 MGD to the plant and handles all the flow from everything south of Big Blue River. The other main pump station is the Northside Pump Station, which is located at the treatment plant and is designed for 4.0 MGD peak.
