Cornerstone Baptist Church is a church for "people on the grow." Our goal is to reach people for Christ.
Cornerstone History: The Thompson Chapel Church was organized as Congregational Church by the Rev. Mack in 1905. At the time, the church was located on the corner of Wofford and Thompson Streets in Spartanburg.
In 1909, the Rev. Layman Morgan moved the church to a location on North Thompson Street. In the mid-1970s, the church moved to the corner of South Converse Street and Collins Avenue and was named "Cornerstone Baptist Church." The church was incorporated in 1979.
The Lord blessed Bishop, Dr. Charles J.J. Jackson with the vision to build a new church to accommodate the church's growing congregation. On January 23, 2011, the Cornerstone family will participate in a "Turning of the Soil" ceremony. The process for new construction is set to begin Monday, January 24, 2011. Cornerstone services will temporarily take place at the Dorman High School Freshman Campus, off I-26 in Spartanburg.
