Nacogdoches County was founded on March 17, 1836.
The city of Nacogdoches is known as The Oldest Town in Texas.
Nacogdoches was considered to be its own country for 42 days during 1826-1827 and was known as The Fredonia Republic.
Famous Congressman Charlie Wilson represented Nacogdoches County when he served as a U.S. Representative. Nacogdoches is mentioned several times by Tom Hanks in the film Charlie Wilson’s War.
Willie Nelson recorded a number of Jazz songs in Nacogdoches and released the recordings in 2004 on a CD entitled Nacogdoches.
