Filmmaker Stephen Kastner created DesignWise Studios in the late 1990's coming to the Web as a photo-journalist. In 2006, he spent 6 months as a consultant in China where he made his first venture into filmmaking. Working with Katharina Merkel, a German assistant who spoke fluid Mandarin, he made 4 documentaries on Chinese art and culture.
