Diamond Way Buddhist Group Oneonta-Catskills - (607) 527-5185

Our Centers are friendly places where people get access to Buddha’s timeless wisdom in a form comprehensible to western, critical minds.

The Oneonta-Catskills Diamond Way Buddhist Center is part of an international network of over 600 meditation centers (~35 in US) in the Karma Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. Our Centers are friendly places where people get access to Buddha’s timeless wisdom in a form comprehensible to western, critical minds. We meditate together, share experience and actively participate in the Center activities.

Diamond Way Centers were founded by and are directed by lama Ole Nydahl according to the wishes of H.H. 16th Karmapa. They are now under the spiritual guidance of H.H. 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, Trinley Thaye Dorje.

Our group consists of people and families, who work full time jobs, and incorporate Diamond Way teachings and meditations into their daily lives. Our members share responsibility for guiding meditations, answering questions, and giving explanations about Buddhism; our work is unpaid, and based on idealism and friendship.
____________

The meditation is free, guided in English, doesn't require any special clothes, and doesn't involve any complex rituals. It takes about half an hour, every Tuesday at 5:15pm and Friday at 5:30.
In Buddhism, Meditation means "Effortlessly remaining in what is." This state may be brought about by calming and holding the mind, when compassion and wisdom are realized, or by working with our bodies' energy channels and meditating on Buddha forms of energy and light.

Modern self confident people value real experience over philosophical ideals. Buddha's teachings offer practical, inspiring, and useful tools for transforming even our greatest disturbances into wisdom by pointing directly at our own enlightened nature. By applying the teachings correctly one can take advantage of every situation, even their bustling city lifestyle, to lead them down the path of freedom and enlightenment. full time, go to school, are business owners and retired, and incorporate Diamond Way teachings and meditations into their daily lives. Our members share responsibility for guiding meditations, answering questions, and giving explanations about Buddhism; our work is unpaid, and based on idealism and friendship. We hold weekly meditation evenings, which are open to the public and are free of charge. There is a relaxed social atmosphere and questions are encouraged. Meditations are guided in English and involve visualization and mantra recitation, allowing space, clarity and joy to naturally arise.
