Dineh Fire Chasers is 100% Navajo Owned and is based out of Window Rock/Ft. Defiance, AZ. It was a dream several years ago and now reality. Started atop of the Montana Mountains while on a Fire Call up there. I asked a few of the guys, what do you think if the Reservation had a Contract Fire Crew? good and silly comments were made. Best one was, someone crazy enough to start it. And that person is me Mr. Neil D. Damon. It Took a lot to start and I know there is more to come. More difficulties ahead which I am ready for. We are an upcoming Wildland Contract Fire Crew and provide other Forestry services in and around the Navajo Nation Reservation.

Tree Thinning is the Cutting or removal of trees or brush to help with the growth of the trees. Thinning can reduce fire hazards, Create healthy environment for wildlife, Remove damaged, diseased or deforemed trees.

Hand/Slash Piling is the piling of but brush or trees into piles to be scattered or burned. Piles are cut from Chainsaws and are piled within the standard limits of the Forestry Dept.

Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) is the area where structures and other human development meet or intermingle with undeveloped wildland, forest or vegetative fuels. we reduce the fuels close to the residents to provide a defensible barrier if any wildland fire threatens the resident, business site or structure.

Prescribed (RX) Burning is a safely planned controlled fire: performed with the ignition of fuels by handtorch, flare gun, flare, or controlled ignition.
Reduces hazardous fuels, protects communities from extreme fires, Minimizes the spread of pest insects and disease, Removes unwanted species that threaten species native to an ecosystem, Provides food for game, Improves habitat for threatened and endangered species, helps bring nutrients back to the soil and aids in the growth of trees and other wild plants.
