EMCO Sprinkler & EMCO Lighting provides custom design, installation & service of both lawn sprinkler systems and low voltage landscape lighting systems
Emco Sprinkler Company was started by Ed McNamara in the spring of 1963. Mr. “Mac” and his wife Norma, ran EMCO for years, moving from a one room basement to a seven room house to handle the expanded business. Ed and his dear landscaper friend Al Kubrick (Father-in-law of Jim Beall and grandfather of Justin and Jimmy Beall, Beall’s Greenhouse and Nursery, Plum Boro) enjoyed the good life in the early 70’s while business boomed.
Ed employed and inspired many young men, including company president Tom Barone, who came to work for EMCO in 1969, and one very special young lady, office manager Carolyn Szekley, who was hired by Mr. Mac at age 17, and still runs at tight ship at EMCO 32 years later. The guys at EMCO don’t need a filing system because one call to Carolyn, and she can rattle off the directions and addresses of most of Emco’s 2,000 customers.
In 1988 Ed and Norma retired and sold the business to Tom Barone and son-in-law George Svilar. Emco moved to Murrysville and the company thrived under the new young leadership.
Experience is the reason for the reputation of excellent service that is EMCO’s trademark. 50% of EMCO’s staff has been employed with the company for 20 years or more. Mark Brennan, qualified plumber came to work for Ed in 1985 and still serves as an integral part of the team.
