Aviation Explorer Post 579 will help you get started in your Aviation Career! You will learn how to design and build aircraft. You will build and fly your own UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), and how to prepare for Pilot training.
Our Mission is to provide mentoring to young adults who have an interest in Aviation. Exploring Post 579 is sponsored by EAA Chapter 579. For 20 years, our Chapter has been introducing young people to Aviation through our Young Eagles program, having given over 16,000 free airplane rides. Now, our adult volunteers will take it a step further, teaching our Post members about aircraft design, aircraft construction, theory of flight, navigation, engineering, and more.
The program will be taught using STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Principles. You will learn how to apply STEM in order to solve design and manufacturing problems, just as you would do in the workplace.
In order to learn about aviation, we will design and build UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles), such as Quad Copters. You will learn Aerodynamics, Theory of Flight, Propulsion, Design, Strength of Materials, Navigation, Robotics, Telemetry, and more.
