The WPAFB Fisher Houses provide an opportunity for military families to stay together/support each other when a loved one is undergoing medical treatment.
Fisher Houses are compassionate care facilities (like Ronald McDonald Houses) but are at major military and VA medical centers to support the wounded, injured and ill military men and women and their families. As of February 2015, there are 64 Fisher Houses at 47 locations (23 military installations and 24 VA medical centers) across the world serving our armed forces, with 5 more currently under construction (and two pending ground breaking shortly) and even more in the recognized need phase.
The two Wright-Patterson AFB Fisher Houses supported 1,110 families who came to the Wright-Patt Medical Center for treatment in 2014 and have assisted more than 20,000 families in 25 years of operations.
