The Center, the federally designated California Action Agency for the Foothill Area, serves very low income clients in Pasadena, Altadena, South Pasadena, Sierra Madre, Arcadia, Monrovia, Bradbury, Duarte, Azusa, Baldwin Park and Irwindale. 77% are at or below the National Poverty Level. The number of people the agency serves has more than tripled over the last five years. Clients are often unemployed, employed at wages too low to provide for their families, on welfare, or facing a temporary crisis. 41% are children. The Center also serves seniors, homeless, disabled, emancipated foster youth, victims of domestic violence, and students on limited incomes. All clients are recertified annually. In 2012, it provided a total of 72,695 client services to 12,032 unduplicated individuals, including food, referrals to more than 100 community partners, health services, and pet care needs. It also hosts large annual Back-to-School, Thanksgiving and Holiday distributions for its clients.
