Forts Randolph & Buhlow State Historic Site - (318) 484-2390

A picnic under the oaks next to the Red River; one more reason to visit here.

Forts Randolph & Buhlow State Historic Site is a Civil War site operated by the Louisiana Office of State Parks. The site is located on the banks of the Red River in Pineville.

Forts Randolph & Buhlow were constucted from late 1864 to early 1865, after the Union's Red River Campaign of 1864. They were intended to deter future Union attacks. The Civil War ended in the Spring of 1865, before that expected third invasion of Central and Northwest Louisiana. The site contains the remains of the two old forts, a visitor's center with numerous displays discussing various aspects of the Civil War in Central Louisiana, Bailey's Dam overlook on the Red River, and elevated boardwalks in Forts Randolph and Buhlow. Many of the local citizens that have visited say that they had no idea such a place existed here. Some are surprised at how well done the exhibits are, and how beautiful the visitor's center/museum is. This secret jewel of Central Louisiana is a secret no more. Welcome All!

Admission to the grounds is $4 per person; children 12 and under and seniors 62 and over are admitted free. Admission gives access to all features on the site.
