Friends of the Yonkers Animal Shelter
The Friends of the Yonkers Animal Shelter is a non-for-profit (501.3C) organization that initally was formed to help the Yonkers Animal Shelter and the animals of the city. A core of volunteers was established to assist in whatever capacity was deamed helpful by the Friends of YAS organization. We introduced volunteers into the shelter to aid and assist the shelter staff, and to walk and help socialize the animals.
As we have done in the past, our mission is to continue to intercept animals prior to entering any shelter by working with rescue groups and individuals to help find permanent homes for these unfortunate throw-a-ways.
