Fritzl's Restaurant - (972) 412-3555

Fritzl's offers the very best in Austrian German dining. From Wiener Schnitzel to great pastas, the creations put together by Klaus Fritz are putting Rowlett, Texas on the map.

Austrian native Klaus Fritz, a former chef of the famous Waterfront Cafe in Los Angeles decided to leave a celebrity filled restaurant and bring his award winning Austrian cuisine to Texas. Why? Because "Texans are down to earth" says Klaus Fritz upon deciding to leave the status driven environment that only recognizes you by your home address, brand of shades or the name of your hair dresser. His approach to the art of cooking culinary perfection is memorable in a way that only can be experienced in a visit to his Biergarten. Words can't describe the pallet sensation of biting into dishes, uniquely named, Kick Ass Schnitzel, Hans & Franz Chicken, and pastries that will have you singing praises to the Fatherland. Often you will see this energetic Austrian running from the kitchen to table with a plate in one hand and a shot of his famous homemade schnapps in the other just to thank you for being a Fritzl's fan. This will be your "dining destination" in one bite and Klaus Fritz a best friend upon introduction.

Introduction

Fritzl's is a unique Restaurant located at the corner of Southwest corner of Lakeview Parkway (Hwy 66) and Rowlett Rd. It brings a refreshing new taste to the Rowlett community with its unique style of cooking which includes a variety of aromatic and palate pleasing entrees. These can be topped off with a wide choice of gourmet desserts that are made daily by the "owner / pastry chef" Klaus Fritz.

If you are hungry for things like Wiener Schnitzel, Bratwurst or Hungarian Goulash, this is the place to visit. The facility is a little small and many folks take advantage of the carry out service that is available, but there is nothing small about the flavors that are conjured up in the kitchen by chef Klaus Fritz and his creative talents that stem from four generations of chefs and pastry chefs. Table service is available for those who prefer to dine in. The atmosphere is cozy and informal.

Who is Klaus Fritz?

Klaus Fritz came to the United States in 1983. He entered the country via Key West, Florida where his talents became obvious to the right folks and landed him a position as pastry chef aboard the S.S. Norway cruise ship. He later settled in Maui where he continued his high profile career as a pastry chef.

Now I suppose that when the right people eat your pastries, you become in high demand because the next opportunity offered to him was at none other than the famous Waterfront Cafe in Los Angeles. It was in this city that he dreamed to have his own business. Klaus wanted it to be a reflection of the family cafe he left behind in his homeland. To the benefit of Texans, Fritzl's Austrian Cafe was born in Garland. Klaus says the folks here are just real down to earth people. He opened Fritzl's Austrian Cafe in 1996 after being in Texas for about four years.

Klaus's creations are by no means limited to Hungarian Goulash and Wiener Schnitzel. One thing he has learned is that if you want to please Texans, you have to satisfy a variety of tastes. He carries a variety of salads, soups, and sandwiches that are more traditional to the Texas palate. His lunch menu offers creations from around the world with the Cuban, Austrian, Italian, Swiss and Polish sandwiches. His pasta delights served with Garlic bread would make uncle Luigi very proud. His Austrian kitchen house specials include Wiener, Jaeger and Parisian Schnitzel, Szegediner and Hungarian Goulash, Kassler Mit Rotkraut and much more.
