Gear 2 works to provide new clothing to children in need so they can feel confident walking through the school doors ready to learn.

Gear 2 provides new school clothes to children in need (kindergarten - 5th grade) throughout the school year to boost their confidence and self esteem. A few clothes will be given at the beginning of the school year including a few pants, shirts, underwear & socks. Then winter gear will be provided in late fall and include gloves, hat and a coat. Lastly a few items will be provided to the students before the end of the school year for those warm spring days into summer. Clothes will be purchased using donations during the off-season or on clearance.

We will work with guidance counselors at the Iowa schools to identify the students and deliver the clothes to the schools for distribution. By having the schools determine the recipients and deliver the clothing, it eliminates the cost of determining who qualifies and also keeps identities of the recipients confidential.

Gear 2 will also collect gently used or like new clothes to provide to children on an emergency type basis. Examples of emergency situations that may arise: students wearing the same clothes multiple days in a row, unexpected change in living arrangements where the student had to leave clothes behind, students wearing clothes that are not appropriate for the weather conditions.

You can make a difference in a child's life by providing a monetary or clothing donation to Gear 2. We have no paid employees and all dollars go directly toward clothing purchases. We are a new non profit founded in 2014 and received the 501(c)(3) tax status approval in January 2015.
