Therapeutic Horseback Riding for Children with Special Needs, Animal-Assisted Therapy/Activities, Animal Education & Horsemanship for Military Veterans.
Our therapeutic programs are dedicated to helping children and adults with special needs, patients and seniors in hospitals, rehabilitation, convalescent, assisted-care, pediatric, adult-day care and Alzheimer facilities.
HBC's Therapeutic Horseback Riding program is dedicated solely to helping children with special needs. Offered each Monday & Tuesday by appointment, riders receive personal instruction on horseback, involving a range of therapeutic games and activities. Each rider is assisted by a team of 3 volunteers and one instructor.
Our Horsemanship for Veterans Program is open to U.S. military veterans, including active duty, disabled and retired service men and women. Veterans gain horsemanship skills in a safe & therapeutic environment.
The Pet Therapy program visits over 400 patients monthly utilizing small therapy animals (dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, ducks & chickens) for visitation & therapy. It also offers an unpaid internship for students to learn about the field of Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT) & Animal Assisted-Activities (AAA) in the clinical environment.
Our Humane Animal Education program is offered by appointment to preschools, elementary schools, special education and special interest groups (i.e. 4H, girl scouts, boy scouts, etc). We discuss the responsibilities and needs of taking care of rabbits, guinea pigs, ducks, chickens, horses, goats, dogs, cats and pet fish.
