Hudson River School of Music - (914) 693-9481

A community-based afternoon music school for instruction in violin, viola and cello for children ages 3-18. Located in Dobbs Ferry, NY.

Music programs at the Hudson River School of Music are based on the Suzuki method of musical instruction. Although, HRSM is a Suzuki based violin, viola and cello school, lessons are available for students musically trained in all methods and in all grade levels. Lessons and classes are taught in a nurturing, non-competitive environment by faculty that have received advanced training in this method of instruction. In addition, all HRSM teachers support the local string orchestra programs and prepare students for All County auditions and NYSSMA.

In addition to private instruction, students at HRSM are enrolled in “group classes,” where children make music together. With practice, children of all abilities progress steadily, learning new elements in
manageable increments. They also get musical reading instruction, to give the child a wide ranging experience and education of music. Included in the curriculum for the youngest students is a Eurhythmics class. The more advanced students play in quartets or ensembles.

The Afternoon Music School runs for 32 weeks, September to June.

The Hudson River School of Music welcomes parents to participate in all aspects of
the school. As a non-profit organization, it does not discriminate on the basis of race,
color, or national or ethnic origin in the administration of it’s educational programs
