Cultural and community-based after-school youth development and family programs in Waimanalo.
Everyday after school, Waimānalo keiki in the 5th and 6th grades participate in programming that aims to develop a sense of self through a sense of place. The keiki study, explore, and learn to be good stewards of their ahupua’a.
In the ‘Ōpio Leadership program, students in the 7th-12th grades have the opportunity to serve as mentors to their younger counterparts, perpetuating a cycle of social responsibility and instilling confidence in them to pass on what they learn.
