I previously had a tattoo done in Brookings, SD where I live. I was not happy with it. I heard about Hope’s Ink Boutique from a friend. I sent Hope a picture of my tattoo and my thoughts on what I want it to look like. She reworked on my tattoo and made it more whimsical and feminine. She definitely listened to my ideas and I am 100 times happier with my new tattoo. I would drive an hour back and forth for her to work on all my tattoos!

I am an artist. I have a Bachelor's degree in Studio Art with Emphasis in Painting and Printmaking. I have a Master's Degree in Art Education. I have been teaching art for over 10 years. Art is my life. Color, shape, and value swirl around my brain nonchalantly. So, when I was looking for an artist to create my first color tattoo, I knew I wanted a trained, talented artist like Hope. I am a perfecctionist, so I am always a bit apprehensive when giving my ideas to another artist. Hope did not disappoint. She understands color and value wonderfully! After my first color tattoo with Hope, I couldn't help but conjur up new ideas for a bigger, bolder tattoo. About a year and a half later, I was ready. I found what I wanted tattooed. It was a bit ambicious, but I knew if Hope agreed to do it, it would be awesome. I am a printmaker by trade. Hope is also an amazing printmaker. I knew she would understand my idea for a reproduction of an Albrecht Durer print on my back. It was originally an etching, meaning plenty of detail and LOTS of value. She blew me away. Her attantion to value is amazing. The print I chose has several folds in clothing, which is not easy for an amatuer artist to accomplish. Luckily, I had Hope! :) The folds, value, shape, and overall form are gorgeous. We added a little color with an iris (my homage to Van Gogh) and she, of course, blew it out of the water. Whenever I show anyone my tattoo, they are amazed that it is "real". :)
Hope is a talented, well-rounded artist. Her background makes her a high-quality tattoo artist that other artists look up to. Many strive to create artwork like hers. She is original, talented, and well-educated. I have referred many friends and aquaintences to her, knowing they will NOT be disappointed. I hope to someday fill my entire back with art historical refferences, knowing Hope will make it beautiful!

When I decided to go big and bold I chose no other then Hope @ ink boutique. Any idea I can dream of, I know Hope will take my dream make it amazing on my skin as bold and amazing as any fine piece of art on a canvas. Hope is meticulous and dedicated to the best for her clients, she checks each needle for imperfections and if not suited will toss it away till she is satisfied that it is straight and perfect, cleanliness is her top priority, only the best for her clients, and for these reasons I trust her, and her only. I had painted a flower painting and brought it in with me, asked Hope to "work her magic". Hope free-handed my painting on my arm and in two amazing INK THERAPY SESSIONS had my art with her "Hope" edge on me, not only did it represent everything I hoped it would be, but with no hard lines, twisting highlights and contrasting shades of multi colors that have everyone I pass stop and say something about this piece. I have had people that "hate" tattoo's stop and tell me how beautiful and bright my tattoo is. Hope Bring's It EVERYTIME. I go to Hope for all my tattoo's and have 4 amazing pieces originally done by Hope. Each session is pleasant and I call it INK THERAPY due to how comfortable she makes it, she takes the "traditional" tattoo environment out of her shop and adds in style comfort and one on one ambiance that can not be mimicked anywhere else. She is so fun to talk to and I never leave without feeling refreshed and so enamored with the art and her as her amazing self. Hope has phenominal customer service and on her spare time is a amazing mom and fine artist. Hope lives ART she is ART and I treasure each piece I have and want to have many many more!

I went to Hope to do a cover up. My old tattoo was old and faded. She helped guide me through my options with the existing tattoo and was very professional through the entire process.

I wasn't really sure what I wanted to cover up my Celtic moon with, so we discussed what colors I like and what sort of images and art work I prefer. I like birds and saw that Hope does beautiful flower work. We searched images online and found exactly what I wanted. The end result was a bird on a branch with flower buds. I can honestly say I have a one of a kind, beautiful tattoo. I get compliments on it all the time.

I met Hope after deciding I wanted my first tattoo. She had so many ideas but I had trouble seeing her vision. Starting with a sketch I decided to just let her go with her vision of a Calla Lily on my right side. But I was worried about the ink as I had some skin sensitivities, she did research before my appt. & we used green ink with shading. After 4 hours it was complete & I absolutely loved it.

Since then, I have added to the original Calla Lily to include all the flowers from my wedding, my grandmother's name (my middle name), Mom, my Uncle's initials (also my maiden name initials), a motorcycle girl, a sunshine, and a tree that connects them all. It travels from my right hip up my right side moving across my right shoulder to the center of my neck.

All of this was drawn freehand by Hope & I am amazed by Hope's talent & conviction towards her work! I love my tattoo because not only does every piece of it tell a story about me but it is absolutely gorgeous & vibrant. I know that Hope puts her heart into everything she does & she will be the only tattoo artist that will ever work on me!

I decided to get my first tattoo when I turned 40. I was nervous but Hope was great explaining everything. She was able to help me relax by making me comfortable. I had an idea of what I wanted but not a clear picture. I described it to her and she sketched it out. I LOVED it! Then we talked about colors and lettering style.and she started on the actual piece. She stopped briefly when I needed her to but worked very precisely. The detail of it was amazing. I would recommend her work to anyone with confidence. Its been almost 8 years and the piece is still absolutely beautiful.

When I first walked into Hopes shop looking for someone to fix my
tattoo a previous artist from a different shop did all I wanted was
someone to do what I wanted done and Hope surpassed that, she seemed
to know exactly what I wanted before I even knew. She fixed my tattoo,
she made it exactly what I wanted, after that I couldnt get enough of
her amazing work so we decided to add to it. I went from a small
tattoo on my shoulder to a sleeve dedicated to my brother including a
portrait of my late brother, I miss my brother everyday but now thanks
to Hope and her amazing talent I now have him with me always. I will
never go to anyone other than Hope!

I was 15 or 16 years old when I first heard dark side of the moon by Pink Floyd. Ever since I have loved the music and the soul of Pink Floyd music as it has related to my life and my journey finding truth in Jesus Christ and freedom from religion. I have dreamt for many years about somehow displaying this freedom I discovered and a tattoo was my ultimate dream for this. My wife Rhonda and I searched for years, praying and trusting that God would help with this dream. God answered our prayers, when we met Hope. Rhonda happened into Hope through our friend Michelle, who happened to work in the same building as Hope. We met her, did some small talk, Rhonda and I went home and both said to each other, She's the one! Anyway, Hope took my small dream and made it into an unbelievable work of art and made my little dream into a living story and testament of my life, my family, my convictions, my Love of Jesus and the message of freedom in Jesus that is hidden in the music and art of Pink Floyd! The coolest thing is Pink Floyd doesn't even realize it. I Thank Hope for sharing her amazing gift with me. She made a dream much bigger and more incredible than I could have imagined! In 2010 I decided to get a tattoo on my arm. I had a general concept of what I wanted; the one thing I knew I did not want was just some flash art. I wanted more of an original piece. I started to ask around if any one knew a good tattoo artist, and I visited several local shops. Of all the shops I visited I never once felt that I had found an artist; someone who could take my concept and run with it. I heard about Hope from one of her clients who told me to check out her Facebook page. I was blown away with some of her pieces and knew that she was the one for me. After my initial consultation I had no doubts that I had made the right decision. Hope took my idea and turned it into an awesome piece of art. Since that first tattoo my wife has gotten three small tattoos from Hope and I have gone back for two more which I like to call 'Hope originals'. If you are looking for a great experience and a true artist Hope is the one for you.
