ReStore accepts donations of furniture, cabinets, appliances and more!! We are open 7 days/week to conveniently accept your items or call for a pick-up!!
Is the ReStore open to the public?
Yes! Anyone is welcome to shop at the ReStore.
What does the ReStore sell?
Items may consist of but are not limited to: cabinets, lighting and plumbing fixtures, hardware, roofing, carpet, tools, trim, doors, lumber, flooring, paint, and windows. Check back often, our inventory changes frequently!
How are the items priced at the ReStore?
Materials are sold to the public anywhere from 50 - 85% off their normal retail price.
Where do items come from?
The Habitat ReStore accepts new and used building and housing related materials from contractors, suppliers, individuals, remodelers, and property managers. See our donation page if you have something you might want to contribute!
How often do you get new merchandise?
Our inventory changes often - we receive new items weekly, if not daily.
Where will the proceeds from the sales go?
Proceeds from ReStore sales will support Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity's primary objectives of building affordable, energy efficient houses for low-income families.
Will my donations be tax deductible?
Yes. If you itemize your deductions, you should be able to claim your donations as tax deductible. However, we advise that you consult a tax accountant before doing so.
Will the ReStore place a value on the items we donate?
No, you will be required to place the value on your donations. Federal tax law prevents us from being able to assign value on donations.
Will you pick items up?
It is a possibility but we will prefer to have materials dropped off at a scheduled time. Call us to make arrangements.
Where are you located?
2401 Scott Boulevard SE in Iowa City just North of Highway 6. We are near the Fareway, just south of the railroad tracks. The entrance is on the south side of the building. Please park in the parking lot on the south side of the building.
How can my business get involved?
There are many ways local businesses can contribute: financial donations, equipment donations, sponsor a special event for the ReStore, place an ad for or with the ReStore, volunteer at the ReStore, donate materials to the ReStore, or shop at the ReStore.
How can I help?
The Habitat ReStore looks for volunteers on a regular basis to help with stocking shelves, picking up donations, greeting customers, unloading donations and general store upkeep. Check the Volunteer Calendar for more information.
