Joint Forces Training Base - (562) 795-2777

The California National Guard's JFTB is a joint military training base and airfield centered in Southern California. The base serves a wide variety of roles, including its critical mission as the hub to the nation/state for emergency response.

JFTB is one of the busiest California National Guard installations serving the Southern California region. Major CalGuard tenant units include the 40th Infantry Division; the Los Alamitos Army Airfield; and the Sunburst Youth Academy, which is one of two National Guard Youth ChalleNGe academies in California that provides a live-in, military-style educational program to foster academic excellence and instill values in teens who have dropped out of high school or are at risk of dropping out.

The U.S. Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol Long Beach Senior Squadron, 150th Air Search and Rescue, Cadet Composite Squadron 153rd, and Glider Squadron 41 are tenant units on the base.

The base also hosts element of the U.S. Army Reserve, including the 79th Sustainment Support Command, 311th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, and the 11th Military Police Brigade. The joint base also has elements of the U.S. Marine Corps, Cal EMA, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

As the base in centrally located near several cities in Orange County, it is a goal of the installation command group to work hand-in-hand with the local communities, including the cities of Los Alamitos, Cypress, Seal Beach, and Garden Grove.
Major events come to the installation each year, as well as specialized one-time-only missions with other services and units. Reoccurring events include the annual Race on the Base in February; the 4th of July celebration; the Wings, Wheels, and Rotors display festivity in October; and the Veteran’s Day celebration put on in conjunction with the Long Beach Office of Veterans Affairs.
