A day camp in Rappahannock County, Virginia dedicated to freeing up the creative process for children via acoustic guitar,voice and performance. Cost$300.

This summer day camp is located in Washington, Virginia.We want to make clear that there is "no wrong art" and judgement has no place in our group. This is a sacred place to start creating a form of self - expression. We begin each day in a circle committing to try our best to be supportive of everyone participating! It is for absolute beginners and for those with a bit of acoustic guitar fretboard knowledge. The camp focuses on the six string steel or gut stringed guitar. The camp is for ages 7 -17. Practice breaks during the day will include peer and non-peers helping each other. The week will begin in a group setting with identifying and then navigating the guitar. We will focus on how the voice as well! Tone, consonants , the correct muscles needed to extend and emote the melodic line. We will work with a microphone and practice technique in the context of multi- verse songs from literature of varying genres.We will learn the parts of the guitar ,to tuning in many different ways, to playing, writing a collective song and all in between! Our finale of each camp week will be an amazing opportunity to share with your family and friends your gifts and talents. In other words we will perform our collective or in some cases ,individual song. Campers will play the guitar to the best of their ability and sing with outside accompaniment. We will give you a "fat" cushion .The actual course details will be available in the county at community sites i.e bank, library, kiosks and here on the FB page.. Lisa and Kiaya are so very excited to share their vast knowledge of this form of self - expression that will not only bring you incredible joy, community but will be with your for life.
