About Kristin
Kristin has been an attorney for over 22 years. Before assuming office, she previously served as a partner in the law firm of Corrado & Corrado, as well as the Borough Attorney of Totowa, the Purchasing Agent and Contract Administrator for the North Jersey Water Supply Commission, Assistant Counsel to the Governor of New Jersey, and Law Clerk to Judge Amos Saunders in the Chancery Division of the Superior Court of New Jersey in Paterson. In addition to her role as Clerk, Ms. Corrado is the Section Chief of the Constitutional Officers Association of New Jersey, a Member of the Passaic County Bar Association, and a Member of the Supreme Court’s District Fee Arbitration Committee.
Kristin is a graduate of Seton Hall Law School and East Stroudsburg University. She is married to Stan Alcala and has three stepchildren, Danny, Matt, and Nicole, as well as one granddaughter, Mia. Kristin is member of Murph’s Boys Charitable Association and the Do-Good House. She previously served as a Totowa PAL softball coach for over 10 years.
Under Kristin’s leadership, the Clerk’s Office has instituted a number of initiatives to benefit Passaic County residents, including: (1) the Outreach Program for Passports and Notary Registration/Renewal to provide Passaic County residents with access to Clerk’s Office services at various locations throughout the county; (2) the Veterans’ Free Photo Identification Card Program, in partnership with the United States Department of Veterans’ Affairs, wherein nearly 3,000 Veterans’ ID Cards were issued in 2013 alone; (3) extended office hours including on Saturdays at the Clerk’s Office, as well as for the Records Vault and Map Room; and (4) the creation of a mobile unit to provide services to all 16 municipalities in the County.
About the Office of the Passaic County Clerk
The Office of the Passaic County Clerk is comprised of the Election and Registry of Deeds Divisions.
The Registry Division is the official repository for all documents affecting real property and its ownership and/or transfer. The most important and longstanding function is the recording of legal documents associated with buying and selling property, such as mortgages and deeds.
The Election Division is responsible for receiving petitions for candidates for elective offices, printing election materials filing campaign expenditure reports maintaining absentee voter lists, overseeing drawings for ballot positions, and certifying primary and general election votes to the Division of Elections at the New Jersey Department of State.
The Clerk’s Office provides the following additional services: performing weddings; registering physicians and attorneys; conducting naturalization records research; filing and executing firefighter exemption certificates; issuing peddler’s licenses gratis to veterans; processing legal documents related to construction, physician, and hospital liens; filing inheritance tax waivers; executing warrants; filing trade name certifications; and incorporating religious organizations.
The Passaic County Clerk’s Office is located at 401 Grand Street, 1st Floor, Paterson, New Jersey. In addition, the satellite office is located at 1237 Ringwood Avenue, Haskell, New Jersey.
