Student Success Mentors at LaGuardia help students become more familiar with the campus and set a plan for success.

Welcome incoming students to your first year at LaGuardia Community College!
Student Success Mentors (SSM) will guide you during your first semester at LaGuardia Community College and help you get acquainted with the College and its many resources. We facilitate the First Year Seminar (FYS) Studio Hour, which is affiliated with your First Year Seminar course taught by LaGuardia faculty.
During the FYS Studio Hour, we will help you develop your ePortfolio as well as introduce you to the different web tools offered by LaGuardia including DegreeAudit, CUNYFirst, student email, etc. ePortfolio is central to the Studio Hour and will provide you with opportunities to build your educational plan and to reflect on what you are learning as you become more familiar with your major and discipline during the FYS. It is also a place for you to showcase your academic and personal achievements to prospective employers, internship advisers, and scholarship representatives.
Student Success Mentors are either current students at LaGuardia, or former LaGuardia students who have successfully transferred to CUNY senior colleges who are knowledgeable about the first year experience, the college and its many resources.
