A Family Shore Tradition continues with a focus on fresh ingredients and outstanding service

Four generations ago the Latz family arrived at the South Jersey beach colony. Mack and Allah Latz arrived in Atlantic City in 1890. They operated the Alamac Hotel with branches in both Manhattan and Lake Hopatcong. They were known for the glamour and excitement that they brought to their hotels and restaurants. Their son Milton along with his wife Evelyn procured the Knife & Fork Inn in 1927. They also had a special summer venture which was Latz’s Inn on the Bay at 800 Bay Avenue in Somers Point. Milton believed that Somers Point had many of the same qualities that made Cape Cod a great destination. Their reign in Somers Point encompassed the years between the great wars (1918-1941). In later years Evelyn would remark how part of her family’s heart would always be under a Somers Point rainbow on Bay Avenue. The post war years brought their son Mack along with his wife Elaine and brother Jim to the helm of the Knife & Fork Inn. They passionately operated the business through the second half of the twentieth century. Their sister Allah used her restaurant expertise to create Restaurant Latz in Majorca Spain. Mack and Elaine’s son Andrew was weaned and molded in the business in the changing climate of the Atlantic City scene.

Today Andrew and his wife Adrienne have recaptured the heart of the Latz family at the end of the rainbow on Bay Avenue. Through four generations the passion, intellect and sensibility of the Latz family have created a culinary environment which has delighted millions.
