Smart women's clothing. We have a 2nd location at 119 Palmer Avenue, Falmouth, MA 02540 (508-548-3900), which is closed on Sundays.
The namesake of Liberty House began as a non-profit cooperative women’s clothing store in the late 1960's in New York City. It was started on Cape Cod in 1980 by Barbara Dollar, one of the three women who established the original New York store. Barbara went on to open Susanna, a clothing store in Cambridge, MA. Under her guidance, Sharon Walton began operating Liberty House in 1985, and opened a second store in Falmouth in 2005.
The Woods Hole store occupies one of the oldest buildings in the village, facing Great Harbor, Vineyard Sound and backing up to Eel Pond, accessed by a drawbridge. The space we now call Liberty House was formerly occupied by Hilton’s Boat Yard.
The Falmouth store on Queens Buyway is located across from the original Filene’s on Cape Cod, now an art gallery.
Both stores offer an eclectic selection of women’s clothing and accessories. We aim to have whatever you might need — whether it’s a short black skirt for work, or a long black dress for a night out. We have stylish hats to wear on the beach, pretty print dresses for a magical evening, beautiful silk jackets for that special wedding or Bat Mitzvah... and much, much more!
Many of the items we carry may be special ordered when a different size or color is desired. Gift certificates are a popular choice for friends and family; these can be mailed to you or picked up at one of the stores.
