The following guidelines will be followed.
(a) An amount of $3000.00 will be paid to the beneficiary of the Lorain County Officer fatally wounded in the line of duty.
(b) An amount of $500.00 will be paid to the Officer or designee for a critical or life threatening injury
(c) An amount of $5000.00 will be paid to the Officer or designee for terminally or critically ill
(d) An amount of $250.00 will be sent to the family or designee of an Officer fatally wounded in the Line of Duty in the State of Ohio.
Article I
(a) Active Lorain County Law Enforcement fatally wounded in the Line of Duty
(b) A written request is not needed
(c) A monetary donation will be sent to the family or a designee of their request
Article II
(a) Active Lorain County Law Enforcement critically injured in the line of duty
(b) Request must be submitted in writing by active Lorain County Law Enforcement for an on duty critical injury
(c) Request must be on their respective LE Agency letterhead
(d) Request must specify the recipient
(e) Request must meet the definition of “critically injured”
(f) The Executive Board will suggest a monetary donation up to the maximum benefit allowed based upon the injury
(g) A majority vote is needed to approve monetary requests
Article III
(a) Requests must be submitted in writing by active Lorain County Law Enforcement for an Officer that is critically or terminally ill and in need of assistance
(b) Request must be on their respective LE Agency letterhead
(c) Request must specify the recipient
(d) Request must meet the definition of “critically or terminally ill”
(e) The Executive Board will suggest a monetary donation up to the maximum benefit allowed based upon the illness
(f) A majority vote is needed to approve monetary requests
Article IX
(a) “ Officer” refers to; active Law Enforcement, Jailers and Dispatchers
(b) “Critically injured” refers to; an injury of a serious nature that places life in jeopardy
(c) “Terminally ill” refers to; when a person is not expected to live more than 12 months
(d) “Critically ill” refers to; a disease or state in which death is possible or imminent
(e) “Active Lorain County Officer” refers to; an Officer in good standing with his/her respective agency recognized by the County of Lorain, in the State of Ohio. An Officer that is not pending termination, investigation or suspension.
(f) “On Duty” refers to; an Officer that is working for their respective agency due to scheduling or obligation. “On Duty” also encompasses an Officer that is off duty and is responding to an emergency situation with exigent circumstances
