Offering a variety of activities from swimming lessons to aquacise, we guarantee that you will have fun in the sun at the Lowden Park Pool!
Lowden Aquatic Park Project (LAPP) is a private, non-profit corporation created to facilitate the development of a multi-generational, multi-purpose seasonally-operated community pool in Weaverville.
The current Lowden Park Pool was completed in the summer of 2008 thanks to the tremendous efforts put in by our volunteer community workforce and monies donated by individuals and grants. Completion of the pool was no small task and we thank you all for your help!
Now LAPP is attempting to keep the pool operating while also working to build the rest of the Lowden Aquatic Park Project. The Lowden Park Pool offers many programs including recreational swim, competition and lap swimming, swim lessons, therapeutic programs, water safety, and aquatic exercise.
Area schools use the Pool as part of their Physical Education curriculum and end of school year parties.
Employees are American Red Cross certified. Life Guard and Swim Instructor Courses are now offered through the Redding YMCA.
Benefits from a renovated and expanded aquatic center in Weaverville are substantial and include health, safety, economic benefits, summer employment for teens, recreational opportunity for youth and seniors of this community.
Providing a community pool with associated facilities to include a toddler splash area, a therapy pool, new locker rooms, a food concession stand & sand volleyball court is the future goal of LAPP.
The Operation and Maintenance of the Pool is an ongoing concern for Trinity County (which owns the pool) because the Weaverville/Douglas City Parks and Recreation District (which manages the pool) has been unable to recoup its costs in recent years. LAPP has stepped in to help, but heating and maintaining even a new efficient pool, is still quite costly.
