Lucky Peak Dam is a 340 ft. rolled earthfill dam. Upstream of the dam is Lucky Peak Lake, a 12 mile long storage reservoir with 45 miles of shoreline and 3,019 acres of surface area. There are 4,079 acres of Corps managed lands used for public recreation, wildlife habitat and operation purposes. Lucky Peak Lake lies in three counties: Ada, Boise, and Elmore.

Lucky Peak Lake serves over 1 million visitors annually with recreational facilities including 6 boat launch ramps, full service marina, and 103 shelters dedicated to either day use or camping. Most shelters come equipped with a picnic table, grill and fire pit. The majority of camping shelters are accessible by boat only. The only road accessible camping site is located at Mack’s Creek; RV camping is accessible at Little Macks.

Lucky Peak Lake is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. USACE partners with multiple agencies to effectively execute operations. Idaho Fish and Game manage over 2,600 acres of critical habitat and wildlife. Ada County Parks & Waterways support with dock management. Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation manage Spring Shores and Sandy Point. Bureau of Reclamation assists with flood control and irrigation demands on the Boise River system. Ada, Boise, and Elmore County Sheriffs’ Departments support visitor boating safety and law enforcement; Coast Guard Auxiliary assists with boat inspections and patrol. The Lucky Peak Power Plant manages hydropower production.
