"A Philanthropy of Good Will & Good Times"

MaestroMakings, Simply (formerly MaestroMakings to LadiesLikings, Inc.) was formed in 1975 w/best friend & brother Arkeem Davis, Sr. with the Motto: "A Philanthropy of Good Will & Good Times" as simply a venue to give our people entertainment at affordable prices. We started with the "dollar" picnics, where we'd go to a different NYC park every year w/all the food you could eat for a dollar! We actually did 15 of them w/ Riverside, Pelham Bay & Coney Island among the favorites. Then, in 1983, the Founder, Robert "Bobby Bee" Proctor's dream was realized when the formal club was formed with Ladies Katherine Jacobs, Grace & Cynthia Reed & Anthony Harley. That club version was replaced in later years by Ladies, Deborah Neely, Sharon, Gail Eato, along w/Maestri' Rudy Bailey, the infamous George Mims, Jr. & the most successful version in Ladies Gail Eato, LaShone Bennett-Williams (who later realized the ultimate dream by becoming the President), & Sonya Washington/w-Maestri' Keenan "Grandmaster" Williams & Rudy Bailey & Jeffrey "I True" Parker. Bobby remained the CEO & Founder however and MM, Simply obtained a tax credit. They started giving their Annual Dance/Concerts & formed the 3-Girl Group called Bee's Honey (w/Ladies Fantei Robinson, Alfreda Jackson & Veronda Nelson) after the Barry White/Love Unlimited model. Where you not only attended the dance but got a stage show to boot!!! We gave 23 in all w/ tributes to Jerry Butler, Chuck Jackson, etc. in the repertoire. The Annual Sweetest Day Awards (since renamed The Katherine E. Mims Award, after the First 3x Winner), were also started then where we crowned a lady we deemed to be the SWEETEST in our circle during the previous year. In the interim we crowned 23 Queens and 18 "Newcomers" (given to the lady just entering our circle the previous year), with the First Queen being Lady Bernita Mims in 1975 and the last one being Lady Blanche Newsome in 1990.
The Philanthropy continues to this day though not nearly as active with the dream being to close it out w/ A Tribute to Barry White coming soon.. Stay tuned and Welcome!!
