The mission of Maranatha Christian Academy is to train and equip students for life and for service to Jesus Christ through a biblical worldview, character development, and academic excellence.

he school originally opened with 49 students while using the Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) curriculum. Today, Maranatha offers grades PS – 12 in traditional classroom settings serving close to 550 students from over 80 local churches. Over 80 experienced, dedicated faculty and staff members provide training and support services for effective, efficient operation of the school. Academic instruction ranges from meaningful preschool learning experiences to rewarding college credit courses.

Mark Schultze is the new Superintendent of MCA. Mark Schultze joined MCA as the Superintendent-elect in 2011 and began his tenure as Superintendent for the 2012-13 school year. Mark has been heavily involved in MCA for years as a parent, basketball coach and school board member and president. The Elementary Principal Laura Burch and Secondary Principal Boyd Beck each have over 25 years of education experience. Many of the dedicated faculty have similar longevity in Christian school ministry.

Maranatha enjoys broad recognition and acknowledgement as a school of excellence through its accreditation by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and AdvancED, the regional accrediting agency for schools and colleges. The school has earned a high level of credibility and success since its establishment.

The leadership of the school has recently redefined the vision for the school:
We are the academy (preschool, elementary and secondary) in western Kansas City sought out by Christian parents, locally and internationally, who desire their children to be world changers for our Lord Jesus Christ.

We pursue excellence in all we do as we partner with parents and the local church to develop world changing young people. In an educational environment that emphasizes that each student should have a vibrant relationship with Jesus led by the Holy Spirit, we richly equip students with biblical wisdom, help them form godly character and enable them to achieve academic distinction. Our students are thereby transformed to have an impact like Moses, Daniel and Paul. Being so transformed, our students leverage critical thought, Christ-like character and servant’s hands to proclaim Jesus Christ and to revitalize their world.

Maranatha Christian Academy was founded in 1974 as a Christian School.
