Massa's Coal Fired Brick Oven Pizzeria - (631) 923-3473

**Open for business during the parking lot renovation and still doing curbside pickup orders as well**

After many delays, Massa’s Coal Fired Brick Oven Pizzeria has opened in the Huntington space (fronting a municipal parking lot) that last hosted Guido’s. Pizzaiolo Bill Massa, whose family owns the restaurant, had already attracted a following at his former pizza spot on Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station (now operating as Monaco's Coal-Fired Pizza), which he sold in 2009. Here in Huntington, pies are baked in a coal-fueled oven at temperatures exceeding 900 degrees; they're finished in 2 1/2 to 3 minutes. Pizza isn't sold by the slice, but, rather, by the whole pie. There are three sizes — personal (10-inch, available only at lunch); medium (14-inch) and large (18-inch).

On the menu: A simple Margherita or white pizza ($7.50, $16, $18.50) and specialty pies (available only in medium and large sizes), one topped with caramelized onion and marinara ($20, $22), another a white pie crowned with broccoli rabe, sausage and garlic ($24, $28).

Also available: an antipasto salad ($12.50), coal oven-cooked pepperoni chips ($7.50), calzones ($14, $18), chicken parm ($13.75) and ziti or spaghetti marinara ($9.50; $4 extra for meatballs).
The place has a full bar with two televisions where you can sit, eat, drink and watch pizzas being made.

The Massa family is pizza royalty, of sorts, being related to both Patsy Grimaldi, who founded Patsy’s (which became Grimaldi’s) in Brooklyn and, also, to Patsy Lancieri, who founded Patsy’s of East Harlem.

Massa’s Coal Fired Brick Oven Pizzeria is at 80 Gerard St., Huntington, 631-923-3473.
