To listen. To search. To heal. But most importantly, to CARE.
McCall McPherson is a licensed and nationally certified Physician Assistant with prescriptive authority. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors Degree from Texas State University in Psychology in San Marcos, Texas. She then went on to earn a Master’s Degree as well as an additional Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Mercy College in New York.
While also practicing traditional psychiatry, her true passion lies in Integrative Psychiatry.
After working in what she refers to as “8-minute medicine,” she felt like something was missing in healthcare. She describes her vision of medicine as the following:
"Psychiatry should be looking at patients as a whole, complex, interconnected being. In order to be adequately treated, patients must be heard and individualized. We are trained as providers to discard the root cause of mental illness as irrelevant and focus purely on symptomatic treatment; a practice that is unheard of in all other fields of medicine."
It were these feelings that led her to discover countless other unsatisfied psychiatric providers, an enormous research base and ultimately, a change in her role and practice of medicine. She works closely with Dr. Marilyn Vache and sees a variety of patients, both for tradition and integrative psychiatry.
McCall currently resides in Austin, Texas with her husband, daughter and dog. In her free time she enjoys running, live music, yoga, hiking and camping.
