Memphis Area Transit Authority

The Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA) recently began preparing a Short Range Transit Plan.

This project will take a detailed look at the current MATA bus service to see if there are ways to redesign the service to more closely meet your needs.

MATA will be looking at each of its bus routes individually as well as the overall network of routes to determine if there are ways to improve bus services and make them more cost effective.

Specifically the goals of the Short Range Transit Plan are to:

1. Make sure MATA services meet and support community needs.

2. Make the bus an attractive option for more people in community. Study
recommendations will focus on finding ways to increase bus ridership.

3. Ensure MATA services are operated in the most cost effective and efficient
way possible.
