We are a full service law enforcement unit that is part of the Murray County Sheriff's Office. We specialize in animal related crimes, and will aggressively pursue those that violate state and local animal laws to further the commission of a crime. Being a full service law enforcment unit and part of the Murray County Sheriff's Office, then we have wide jurisdiction and have full police authority including powers of arrest for any crime or offeses. The Murray County Sheriff's office is led by Sheriff Gary Langford with his Chief Deputy, Major Greg Fowler, overseeing day to day operations of the Sheriff's Office with the help of other undersheriff support personnel. Animal Control Director is also a sworn member of the Murray County Sheriff's Office, and oversees the day to day operations of the Murray County Animal Control and Shelter Unit. The shelter has a support staff including animal control deputies that specialize in animal related crimes. Murray County and the surrounding areas make up one of the fastest growing regions in the State of Georgia. With this growth comes significant challenges, particularly for law enforcement. The Murray County Sheriff's Office is committed to protecting the people, their property, and their rights while providing the best public safety and services in partnership with our community.
