A song based, interactive, fun for everyone (even the teacher) guitar program. We are the antithesis of the old music store approach!

Mike Bauer, founder and main instructor, started the Nolensville Guitar Academy about 3 years ago with a vision to help kids play guitar in a fun, fast paced environment. He has developed a song based program that is a wonderful motivating factor for kids and an alternative to the old music store approach. Mike says ”My first guitar teacher didn’t like the music I liked, so he would never teach it to me. I vowed that if I ever taught, I would make sure to include songs my students liked.”
The lessons at the Nolensville Guitar Academy are unique in that they are semi private classes. Each group naturally makes an ensemble which gives students an oportunity to learn to play with other musicians and to listen to each other while they play. The classes are kept between 4 to 6 students and are grouped from beginners to the advanced. Students play everything from “Mary had a little lamb” to Taylor Swift, to Beatles songs like “Blackbird”, to “Stairway to Heaven”, and on to guitar solos by guitarists like Van Halen.
Nolensville Guitar Academy also explores many musical styles from classical, to blues, jazz, rock, latin, country and pop. Students will spend time learning to read music and doing ear training. There will also be an annual recital in early December and parents, relatives and friends are encouraged to attend.
