The North Rose Wolcott Community Dollars for Scholars (NR-W DFS) is a community based organization with the purpose of raising scholarship money for post secondary education.
Chartered in 2001, NR-W DFS has been able through generous community support to grow from offering 2 scholarships in its first year, to 25 scholarships totaling over $12,000 in 2010. An annual phone-a-thon in March is our primary fund raising event.
The North Rose Wolcott Community Dollars for Scholars (NR-W DFS) is a community based, volunteer run organization with tax exempt 501c(3) status established for the purpose of raising and distributing scholarship money for post-secondary education in the North Rose - Wolcott Central School District.
We are a division of Scholarship America, one of more than 1,200 volunteer chapters serving students in nearly 4,000 communities across the country. Many post secondary institutions also offer additional funding support through the Collegiate Partners affiliation with Scholarship America.
Generous community support has enabled us to grow substantially. NR-W DFS offered two $250 scholarships its first year. In 2010, twenty-five scholarships totaling over $12,000 were awarded. Our main fund raising effort is a student operated Phone-a-Thon for district parents conducted in the spring.
