OUZ's psychology program provides students with a well-rounded liberal arts education that focuses on human thought and behavior.

Psychology is the scientific study of behavior and mental processes in both humans and animals. Psychology is a broad discipline encompassing topics from the social sciences as well as the natural sciences, especially biology. Psychologists study the relationship between brain function and behavior, as well as the relationship between the environment and behavior.

Psychologists may work in a variety of roles. For example, psychologists conduct both basic and applied research, serve as consultants, diagnose and treat people, teach future psychologists, test intelligence and personality, and work as health care providers.

The purpose of this program is to provide students with a well-rounded liberal arts education that focuses on psychology. The program prepares students for general employment in a variety of professions, and it serves as an excellent foundation for advanced training in psychology or other related disciplines.

There are many opportunities for individuals with an undergraduate degree in psychology. The great thing about a psychology degree is that it is more flexible and adaptable than most other undergraduate degrees. For example, a quality undergraduate education in psychology helps students develop skills and abilities that make them highly marketable in a wide variety of jobs, ranging from social services to business. In fact, psychology majors are often hired because they have well-developed interpersonal skills, problem-solving skills, research skills, and computer skills. Using these skills, students with an undergraduate degree in psychology often find satisfying careers in fields such as human services, education, research, human resources, and business.

Although most psychology majors enter the workforce after earning an undergraduate degree, there are even more opportunities for individuals who have earned graduate degrees in psychology. Graduates with master’s and doctoral degrees work in a variety of settings, such as government agencies, laboratories, schools, universities, community health centers, prisons, corporate offices, hospitals, and courtrooms. Furthermore, they may work independently or with other professionals such as law enforcement agents, physicians, lawyers, school personnel, computer experts, engineers, policymakers, managers, and other scientists.
