Our school is located in the beautiful river-town of Parkville, Missouri. Our building sits on a shady wooded campus that includes two fenced play areas, outdoor learning environments and wooden decks. Housing classrooms, a teaching kitchen with adjacent dining hall, a library, a gathering space and a nap room, Parkville Children’s Cottage is well equipped to meet the needs of the child. We strive to create natural, inviting spaces where children will develop a love of learning, follow their interests, and strengthen their creative spirits.

Infants “The Nest”- 6 weeks - 18 months

The Nest is a beautiful, uncluttered environment where your “hatchling” can develop and thrive using the Montessori infant materials. Natural furnishings and manipulatives, soothing surroundings and nurturing adults create a safe and relaxing “home away from home.”
Toddlers " The Perch”- 18- 36 months


The Perch is our Montessori Toddlers environment. During these months the children, or “fledglings,” move from complete adult dependency to the independence of the preschool years. Here children discover the true joy of learning through sensory explorations, Montessori exercises, motor skill refinement; social interactions prepare your child for the Primary years.

Primary Students “The Sparrows”- 3- 6 years

Our Primary Classrooms offer a three-year Montessori curriculum where “little birds” will spread their wings and soar. Working in a beautiful, engaging environment, your child benefits from individualized lessons tailored to meet their academic and developmental needs. Our multi-age classrooms create a supportive family atmosphere where children work independently or in small groups. Organic gardening and cooking, art, music, movement, outdoor explorations and multiple enrichment classes enhance our curriculum.

Dining

We strongly believe that good nutrition should start from birth. We are the only Montessori school in Kansas City to offer organic, locally-sourced lunches provided by Bistro Kids. Bistro Kids supports healthy food choices by conducting in-house classes using the Food is Elementary© curriculum. Using our school garden children obtain hands-on knowledge of plant life-cycles. Harvesting and preparing food grown from seed makes the students farm to table experience a reality.

Our Hours

Our academic day runs from 8:30- 3:30 pm with an evening extended-day option until 6:00 pm. Half- day, 2 day, 3 day and 5 full-day options are available
