Pendleton Heights

Positively Urban, Uniquely Eclectic. Pendleton Heights is home to some of the nicest, smartest, most creative people in all of Kansas City, MO.

Pendleton Heights is the first and oldest standing suburb of Kansas City, Missouri. The housing stock varies, but for the most part, Pendleton Heights features the largest, most glorious collection of homes from the mid-late 1800s in all of Kansas City. A great majority of these homes have historic significance, and the original owners all played a role in shaping and stabilizing Kansas City during her formative years.

The grand days of Pendleton Heights lasted until the late 1910s when, after World War I, the exodus of the wealthy began as the City expanded southward.

The area eventually became home to a strong community of Italian immigrants (lasting for around 75 or so years- depending on who you talk with), and to this day, the area still attracts immigrants from all over the world.

Within the past few decades- and especially recently- a noticeable influx of rag-tag visionaries have begun moving in, rolling up their sleeves, and restoring even the most mouldering Victorian homes to their former grandeur. Of equal importance, they're connecting with their neighbors in a manner reminiscent of the "olden days". They know It Takes a Village and are willing to be an active part of the community; in essence, being a genuinely good neighbor themselves.

These urban pioneers have much in common with the first residents of Pendleton Heights: they see the future of Pendleton Heights in all it's shining possibility, and will not be daunted or muzzled by naysayers. They're forging ahead, each marching to the beat of their own drum, even as they honor and respect the beauty of the past.
