Welcome to the Pinetop-Lakeside Police Department.
Serving the community with Integrity, Respect, Professionalism, Trust and Teamwork.
The Town of Pinetop-Lakeside's Chief of Police, Ron Wheeler, and the entire staff of the department welcome you to the Pinetop-Lakeside Police Department's Facebook page. This Facebook page will be another medium for our police department to share information with the citizens we serve, to improve the quality of life in our community. We invite you to visit the sight often to learn and share information about the police department, and the community we serve.
Ron Wheeler now serves as the Chief of Police for the Town of Pinetop-Lakeside. Chief Wheeler comes to Pinetop-Lakeside Police Department from the City of Sedona Police Department, where he spent 11 years and was promoted to Commander in 2006. During his career as Commander, his areas of command included Field Operations, and Support Services Divisions. These assignments provided him experience working with sworn and civilian employees, a diverse group of police volunteers, direct contacts with visitors and citizens of the community, community groups, and business leaders.
Chief Wheeler holds a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice (summa cum laude). He also graduated from Northwestern University Center for Public Safety “School of Police Staff and Command” (Class 242), the FBI National Academy (Class 232), and the International Chiefs of Police “Leadership in Police Organizations” (Class 13). He currently lives in Pinetop-Lakeside with his wife Leigh and dog “Scooter.”
Chief Wheeler is on the executive board of the Arizona State Chapter of the FBI National Academy Associates, and his professional memberships also include the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and the Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police. He has served on the board of directors of the Verde Valley Sanctuary, a shelter for domestic violence survivors, for the last 9 years prior to leaving the Verde Valley area. In 2010, he has received a Medal of Valour, and Life Saving Award, for actions taken by him and two of his officers during a “micro burst” storm that resulted in the rescue of three people trapped in swift moving waters.
“I have 27 years of experience in public service and a solid working knowledge of public safety operations. I possess strong initiative and exceptional communication skills. Combined with my ability to work well under pressure, I can make a substantial contribution to the Town of Pinetop-Lakeside Police Department and the community it serves.” I will worked harmoniously with Pinetop-Lakeside Police personnel and other Town of Pinetop-Lakeside departments to plan and implement new programs benefiting not only the police department, but coordinating town departments, and residents and visitors in our community, to ensure we all can “Celebrate the Seasons,” Safely.
